How We Make Welded Steel Pipes at Our Factory

KAD stainless steel welded pipes are used in buildings, water lines, factories, and big construction projects. At KAD STEEL ROLLING MILLS, we have been making them for more than 61 years. In this article, we will walk you through the simple steps of how we turn flat steel into strong, long-lasting pipes.

1. Choosing the Right Steel

We start with rolls of steel called coils. These rolls are made from strong steel and come in different sizes. Our team checks every coil to make sure there are no cracks or damage. We only use the best material.

2. Unrolling and Flattening the Steel

Next, we unroll the steel coil like a giant ribbon. Then we flatten it so it is smooth and even. This makes it easier to shape in the next step.

3. Getting the Edges Ready

Before we bend the steel into a pipe, we make the edges clean and straight. This helps make the weld strong and smooth.

4. Bending the Steel into a Round Shape

We pass the flat steel through machines with rollers. These rollers slowly bend the steel into a round pipe. It happens step by step, so the shape comes out just right.

5. Welding the Pipe

Now we join the two edges together using electricity. This step is called welding. We heat the edges with a special machine and press them together until they melt and stick. No extra material is added. The pipe is now sealed with a strong welded seam.

6. Smoothing the Weld

Sometimes we remove the extra weld that sticks out from the seam. This makes the pipe smoother, especially when it will be used for water, oil, or gas.

7. Heat Treatment (Only If Needed)

Some pipes need to be made even stronger. In those cases, we heat the pipe again in a furnace. This makes it tougher and helps it last longer.

8. Making the Pipe the Right Size

We pass the pipe through more machines that adjust the size and make it perfectly round. Then we straighten it so it has no bends or curves.

9. Cutting the Pipe

Once the pipe is ready, we cut it into pieces. Most customers ask for 6 or 12-meter lengths, but we can cut other sizes too.

10. Testing and Checking

We test every pipe to make sure it is strong, straight, and safe to use. Some of the tests we do include:

  • Filling it with water to check for leaks

  • Using sound waves to look inside for cracks

  • Measuring the size and thickness

  • Checking the surface for any damage

You can learn more about our testing on our Quality Control page.

11. Finishing the Ends

Some pipes need special ends. We can:

  • Leave the ends plain

  • Cut the ends at an angle (called beveling)

  • Add threads to screw the pipes together

We also put plastic caps on the ends if needed.

12. Marking and Packing

Finally, we mark each pipe with its size and batch number. Then we bundle them together and get them ready for delivery. We ship pipes across India and even to other countries.
